Congratulations to Mrs. Deevy’s 6th Class, who recently raised €550.47 for Waterford Hospice, from their Juice and Buns morning.
Please remember to label all items of clothing clearly and permanently. Several items have been found here and remain unidentified.
Thank you to those parents who have paid. The few who have not paid are now asked to do so at their earliest possible convenience. This money is needed to ensure the supply of books, photocopying, Art supplies and insurance.
Road Safety Week;
Next week, we will hold a Road Safety Week here in school, in an attempt to highlight the importance of Road Safety. This will include a series of class lessons and a school walk for staff and pupils. The Parents Association has kindly offered to assist by operating a Traffic Warden system, in order to encourage safe parking. Any volunteers to help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Please phone Aideen Mulligan (Chairperson, PA) on 086 0897578.
Red Kettle Theatre Company;
The above company will visit the school, on Monday 7th December. They will have 2 performances; Junior Infants, 3rd, 5th & 6th classes will view the 9.30 performance and Senior Infants, 1st, 2nd, 4th will view the second performance. This year the play is called “WICKY WICKY WHEELS” written and directed by Liam Meagher. It is a highly interactive piece of theatre that incorporates audience participation and will be very entertaining, educational and fun. The cost is €4 per pupil. Please place €4 in an envelope marked with your child’s name.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception;
On Tuesday December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, pupils will attend mass in Slieverue Church at 10am.
Friday 27th November: 6th class will visit Waterford Crystal and the Toy Museum. The cost is €2 for the bus. Both Waterford Crystal and the Toy Museum are free.
Friday 4th December: Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class are being taken into Waterford, to visit the Winterval festival. We have booked a tour on the Santa Express train. The cost is €6 per child including the bus. Please place €6 in an envelope marked with your child’s name (or add €6 to Red Kettle envelope).
Bring and Buy Sale;
Our annual Bring and Buy Sale, organised by 6th Class, will take place on Friday 18th December in the school, during the school day. Children throughout the school can help by donating unwanted books, toys, games, etc, which are in good condition. Please do not send in broken or damaged items. There will also be a small shop and many novelty games. All classes will be given a chance to attend this fundraising event. Please remember to give your child (especially junior classes) a small amount of money on the day. This is a very enjoyable event, as children love to spend their own money on items of their choice. 6th Class also have the opportunity to put their organisational and mathematical skills to work, and aim to make as much money as possible.
The Parents Association will run their annual Christmas Party as follows:
One Christmas Party for all classes will be held on Thursday 17th December in the New Parish Hall, from 7 – 8.30pm. The cost of the party is €5 per child, which will be payable on the door. Children are encouraged to wear something festive such as a Santa hat or tinsel. Children are asked not to bring extra money as they will be given sweets and not to bring coats as there is little space and they will be indoors for the duration of the party. Parents are more than welcome to attend. Parents Association members will supervise children.
Christmas Carol Service;
On Monday 21st December, we will hold a short Christmas Carol Service, at 7.30pm in Slieverue Church. All classes will participate. Parents are most welcome to attend. Please bear in mind that space in the Church is limited, when asking others along.
School will close for Christmas holidays on Tuesday 22nd December at 12pm. School reopens on Wednesday 6th January at 9am.
With Christmas approaching, please remember that Christmas cards, along with presents and invitations, are not allowed in school. It is unfair for any child to be in a situation whereby they may receive less cards than other children.
Once again the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal, was a great success. Many thanks to those who prepared boxes. Over 100 boxes were collected from the school.
Thank you to those parents who have paid. A few parents still have not paid. They are now asked to do so at their earliest possible convenience. This money is needed to ensure the supply of books, photocopying, Art supplies and insurance.
Track Suit Bottoms;
If anybody has old track suit bottoms to spare which are in good condition, please send them in, as occasionally the odd spare pair is needed in school.
